The 50 watt Jäger TruTemp adjustable heater is an ultra-modern electronic thermal device offering today's best technology. Designed for use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, Jäger TruTemp fully-submersible heaters include great features such as:
- Shatterproof Glass Construction - Made with laboratory-grade glass, TruTemp heaters are free of pollutants, resistant to chemical and biological substances, and able to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations. Their glass jackets also enlarge the heating surface and ensure even heat distribution.
- TruTemp Dial - Temperature can be precisely adjusted from 18° to 34° C (65° to 93° F). Using the TruTemp dial with readjustment ring, the user can recalibrate the heater for a precise temperature reading. Control accuracy is +/- 0.5° C.
- Thermo Safety Control - This safety mechanism enables "running-dry" protection. The heater will shut off when removed from the water, and resume functioning upon return.
- On/Off Indicator Light - This convenient feature eliminates guessing and enables the user to verify heater function without getting their hands wet!

Replaced a starter aquarium kit heater that had temperature swings of 2 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit. This one stays within a 1 degree.

Good quality product but the temperature is off by 1.5 °C even though the calibration needle is at the max level.

This is a solid heater. I'm very happy with its performance. I don't know what "sheerness" means, but sure have 5 stars. It took a moment to figure out how to turn the dial to set the temperature, and it needs to be calibrated, but everyone is very happy and comfortable.I would say that the instructions are not super clear and could be revised a little.

This heater is excellent. I don’t know why people are complaining about it being hard to adjust; it was super easy. Just needs some common sense people.

Always buy quality tank heater so you don't fry your aquarium pets alive, great quality, brings temp to desired level. Make sure you follow instructions. Worked well for my 5gal. Tank. It is a little bigger than other ones but definitely worth the purchase

I initially wrote glowing a review about the Eheim heater. unfortunately- I ordered a second one and the calibration was so off that it couldn't even be properly calibrated. Heaters can destroy a tank. So unfortunate I threw it in the garbage and will not buy another Eheim replacement. Very disappointing because Eheim supposedly is the best heaters. There was one step in the calibration that maybe could of saved the heater. Which is actually taking off the top and readjusting it. It may work, however, I broke the plastic top in the process. I also wasted alot of time in the processes, in my opioniion, it should of came calibrated. I had to calibrate the other Eheim heater I got too. (which is working perfectly) Sucks, but what can you do.

Besides being a little hard to set the temperature, which there are videos of how to do it on youtube, it holds the temperature perfectly. I have a 5.5 gallon tank in my room that is sometimes in the low 60s°F over night. I keep my tank at 80°F. I've never had a single problem with this thermostat. I never even see the tank temperature off by 1°F.Yes, its a little large, for its wattage, and also for my tank size, so I have it installed on an angle. Its probably large for a reason though, so I am fine with that. The suction cups aren't the greatest, they still hold but after weekly cleanings for the past year, where I do take the thermostat out, the suction cups are getting weak. You can buy replacements or lay the heater on the floor since it is completely submersible. I am planning on replacing the suction cups with magnets anyway, but sometime when I have more time to play, but I do think the suction cups will hold until I am ready, and that may be awhile. The power cord is great, it is long, has a great feel, and I don't think I will ever have a problem with it.The main reason I chose this was one review I read. Their tank leaked while they were out, losing all of the water (poor fishes), and this heater suffered no harm from that. The price is great too, for such a quality product, its priced the same as the junk ones in the chain pet stores. That one couldn't even keep the temperature consistent, let alone heat up the tank to the temperature I wanted. It was also a 50 watt heater like this one too. This one doesn't spend a lot of time on unless I just changed the tank water and its bringing everything up to temperature. If all Eheim products are like this, I would use all of them.

I love this heater. Keeps the aquarium water temperature constant. Once you read the instructions and figure out how to use the item, you pretty much just set it and forget about it. I have been using it for several months now and have not encountered any problems.

This is a really nice heater. I bought it because it has a "Laboratory quality glass jacket" and because "The temperature can be precisely adjusted from 18° to 34°C and recalibrated if required. The control accuracy is +/- 0.5° C."My tests in my tank show a 2 degree variation in temperature. I wanted to maintain 78F +/- 0.5F. But after doing the math finally 0.5 C is really about 1 degree F. So expect your temperature to be +/- 1 degree F from where you want it.I'm seeing a 1.01 degree F differential above and below my setting. So that's 2 degrees F that the temperature swings in my tank.So if you compare the EHEIM Jager "Precision" heaters with others and they list +/- 1 degree F that is the same as +/- 0.5 degree C which EHEIM claims. However, I think the glass and other features of this heater make it worthwhile. I've read nothing but good reviews of the quality and longevity of these heaters. I can say that it is very well built and very solid. There's nothing cheap about it.I'm very happy with it now that I've done the math. But I would still like to have a heater that is +/- 0.5 F accurate. Maybe it doesn't exist. Like I said I think I'm expecting too much from the heater, any heater. And if you need to see a picture of this heater just look at any of the other models. They all look the exact same. The only difference is the length of the glass heater tube.I also like the fact that it protects itself when you pull it out of the water above it's water mark. I don't have to worry about hurting the heater when I pull it up and out far enough to adjust the temperature dial. You have to grab it very solidly with one hand to adjust the dial with the other hand. So I don't have to unplug it first. Once you get the temperature set the way you want it you don't have to pull it out of the tank. I'm using it to heat a 5 gallon tank and it's certainly working within it's specs. It's also nice that you can submerse the entire heater or you can leave just about all of the top out of the water.Really my only con is that I wanted a tighter temperature range.
