Was fairly easy to add an off the shelf binary to this. It's a bit more tricky to build the binary for the camera.

after figuring out the url to add for esp32 wrover module. That's good for the start. The dual core should be faster that any of the Arduino MCUs that I have had.Pro: Camera cable may be too short for mounting the module and camera properly on putting them to use.Camera example sketchs always connect to an external wifi server. Not sure if it has enough resource to implement a full wifi AP with the camera server.Anyway we may use it directly as a wifi camera on a land based vehicle running indoors without adding sensors or writing code. :)

Worked immediately with Windows. Ubuntu 22.04 was a challenge. You need to download the python serial drivers. I have to compuuters running Ubuntu. I got the unit to work on one but not the older one even though the software is identical. I tested the unit out with a couple of my Arduino programs using Ubuntu and things worked just fine. I2C Scanner identified the address for AHT10. I am running the sketch for AHT10 and it is displaying the correct data on the serial monitor. The next step is to convert my sketches for 3 axix gyro and accelerometer for use in a quadcopter. The 32 bits and higher clockspeed will allow me to sample more often. The camera is okay but nothing fancy. I could not get a continuous stream as the refresh rate was a second or so. Might be okay for a static camera - ie doorbell. It is good value for the product. WiFi and bluetooth worked with both operating systems.

I first received this product in August 2023, I downloaded the PDF instruction manual and just tried it for fun. I let it alone for a few months and worked on other projects involving the Raspberry Pi products. Recently I went and dug out the Freenove ESP 32 Camera unit and contacted the customer support once regarding trouble when the product is mounted on a perforated proto board and alsosecond time regarding an update on the instruction manual with instructions for Thonny and uploading the camera firmware for use with Micropython. I had very rapid responses both times , within the 24 hours. Dedicated employees of Freenove were present during their New Years celebration and took the time to respond with very clear and helpful responses to both my requests. Happy Year of the Dragon team! I find that the product is a great buy for the price. It is a little work horse and so far I am very happy. Please do not expect the same performance as a Raspberry Pi but a good competitor for IoT Do It Yourself Projects with a budget. It far out does the competing capricious product that comes mounted piggy back on a program loader. The Freenove comes with the loader integrated on board , just plug in a micro usb cable and connect it to your pc. The Freenove product is bigger in size than the competition but the attached picture shows that it is possible to solder it on an Amazon bought proto board and have GPIO accessible on both sides. I recommend this product for budget projects with punch.

You really have to read the documentation. It takes a few (mis)steps to get going, but they are detailed in the manual pdf.Pros:- Looks nice.- Wireless works.- Bonus points for useful documentation.Cons:- Camera is the quality you pay for, only works in the example web interface in 320x240, bad 640x480, and fake 800x600 (despite many other options), and you have to turn down the quality or it causes the stream to fail. Sometimes it just screws up for no reason.- The width will not allow you to use it directly on a 5-aside breadboard... It spreads 9 pins.

This is a very good product with an excellently written tutorial. Had to use their support with a prompt and good response allowing a compile issue to be resolved - I recommend this product.

Important to know: You cannot connect to it via WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time. You can only configure it for one or the other at any given time.
