Even after watering my plant it shows it going up to moist then to dry. Even after moving the stake. I added more water and same thing. My plant was so water logged I had to take it out of the sopping soil and replant. Very disappointed in this. I am better off with out it. Don’t waste your money..

bought them to replace a very old one that isn't working very well. buying two it this kit allows me to keep one on each floor of my house where the plants are near the south windows on each floor. Looking at other peoples comments, obviously some are not reading the instructions. DO NOT leave them in the dirt permanently. Use and wipe the end clean after each use. and DO NOT use in pure water. This will eliminate 90% of the complains from people who don't read the instructions.

I have 3 different brands of moisture meters, and tend to prefer the ones with one probe. The problem is that meters with single probes don't seem to be as accurate as those with two probes. Another single probe meter I have tends to register the soil moisture as dry when it is obviously wet, even to the touch. This one registers them as wet, when it is obviously dry. I have left parsley grown indoors without watering when this meter registered it as wet. The next day, the parsley was totally wilted.Although the double probe meters seem to be more accurate, using them is not always practical if the soils is hard and difficult to penetrate. For example, I grow large veggie greens, such as kale and collards, in pans that over time become full of roots. This makes the soil impossible to test with a finger, and the double probe meters are difficult to get into the soils. For these pans, I use the single-probe meters to get a "best guess" on whether the plants need watering. Having used this meter and others like it, I have gotten to know when the plants need watering.This meter is a great tool, but it is just that - a tool. It does help to determine whether your plants need watering, but you also have to use common sense in using it. If the meter says you soil is wet, and it feels dry 2" down, your plant likely needs watering. It's also important to know the watering needs of your plants. This meter does seem to often agree with the double probe meter I have. So, I believe it is more accurate than some, but it's always a good idea to use another probe or just your finger.Some plants, such as parsley, basil, and tomatoes, like to be kept on the moist side. Others, such as rosemary, collards, and kale, like to dry out a bit before watering. If your plants dry out to the point of wilting too often, it weakens the plant. Some plants, such as greens, parsley, etc., will recover from wilting, and others, such as tomatoes, will lose the wilted leaves. Moisture meters are tools that can help in determining whether your plants need watering, but nothing replaces common sense.I hope this review was helpful for you.

I purchased this water meter because I am a confessed over waterer so I have killed MANY plants. I desperately want to succeed in growing succulents and a herbs so I thought a water meter might help with my over watering. This came in a 2 pack (or should I say I purchased the 2 pack) and thankfully it did because one of them has already broke (see picture). I am outside of my return window on this item, but am hoping the manufacturer/seller can help me out with this and then perhaps I will change my review....stay tuned.Update: I contacted the seller and they were extremely quick to respond and have shipped me a new moisture meter free of charge. Great customer service! Giving this product 5 stars now—great product and even better customer service!
