I have purchased several of these both on their own and also as part of sets including a base and several other magnetic holders. The magnets have plenty of grip for my purposes. You can attach other lengths of magic arms with 1/4 20 threads to these bases. I only wish they sold the magnetic bases separately.

Great design and quality. However I received it missing the magnet base that is in the advertised description. More hassle than it's worth to follow up so it's just been a disappointment.

I clamped two of these to my electronic drum rack and they hold up and ipad and a keyboard with the magnet side. Works great!I expected I would have to adjust many things and it would take some time to get it into the perfect position...but you can literally hold it in position with one hand and clamp the whole arm rigid with your other hand; it's a single knob to adjust! I was kind of amazed.Anyways, solid build and I'd imagine there are plenty more uses than soldering for these.
