Summary:Overall it's a strong recommendation from me, just be aware of the things I've mentioned below. The quality of the unit has the potential for 5 stars but it's mainly let down by quality control & packaging issues, along with a lack of minor features, and uncertain pricing. The price you find it at, as well as the quality control is going to determine where this falls between 3 and 5 stars for me.Build:The build quality feels excellent - all heavy steel, and simple parts that can't really go wrong. The jaws are super sharp and precisely cut. The articulation is excellent and the joints can all be adjusted to anywhere from 'totally limp', to 'firm enough to be movable but hold their position', to 'totally locked in'.Measurements:The black screws for the 90° brackets of unknown purpose in the base, as well as the tensioning screws in the joints need an M3 hex (included). The acorn nuts on the other side need a 5/16" socket and are mostly just for show since the black screws actually thread into the washers themselves. The 4 legs are held in with the same (unnecessary) nuts (the screws bites directly into the threaded holes in the base). The 3 acorn nuts on the jaws work in a 5.5 mm or 7/32" socket with a touch of slop, but these shouldn't really need adjusting. They are however necessary (unlike the others) as these washers do not have threaded holes. The black grub screws that hold the jaw rods into the jaw mechanism need a M2.5 hex. From joint to joint is about 8 cm. The black hex screws that hold the base of the arms to the base platform use an M5 hex I think and these holes are not threaded (the screw goes directly into the arm base and does not bite into the base plate). The screws for the legs are Ph2 and the screws in the jaws are Ph1.Features:They include an M3 Allen key for adjusting the joint tension, but I wish they'd also included the other tools necessary. A built-in place to hold both these tools would be a nice little quality of life value add as well. Ideally, if they could reduce the number of unique tools and measurements in use, that would also help.Quality control:This is where some points come off the rating. I have ordered 3 units and all of them arrived falling apart in the box. One of them was missing the 2 M2.5 grub screws from the right jaw. Additionally, the base plate on all of them was scuffed and marked like another reviewer has shown (though not as badly). Thankfully this does not bother me, and the underside is pristine so I was able to just flip everything around, but it's something that the manufacturer should work on improving. The packaging was also very crude - one unit was shipped directly in the plain cardboard box that holds it with little protection. Thankfully, my second unit also came in an amazon bag, and my third in a box (along with another item) which helped to contain parts that had actually fallen fully out of the product box itself. Thankfully because the unit is so robust it doesn't seem to have been harmed by this, but I could imagine the jaws getting harmed (or harming other things) if they were to start flying around and poke through the box. I also suspect this might be responsible for the missing grub screws.Price:This is where it gets interesting. At full normal price (low $70s) it's not obscenely expensive, but it's certainly not cheap either and quite a bit more than I'd like to see given the many issues. If all of the problems were fixed and it arrived in pristine condition, I think this would be fair, but until then, they need to discount it appropriately. Thankfully, at the moment they have done just that, offering 50% off which is huge! At the original price I think for what you get, it's an ok price, worth the 3 stars I originally gave but with the discount I think it easily earns 4, perhaps bordering on 5, which is why I ordered 2 more when I saw this offer. I am giving ig just 4 overall though because I don't think I can in good conscience give anything with so many problems 5 stars even if the price is low enough to "justify" it.Bonus:The hole spacing for the arms just so happens to perfectly match the hole spacing on the VIVO monitor + laptop stand (item B00FOTABWY) so I have crafted myself a multi-arm unit out of that.

This setup is a lot more stable than alligator clips on a wire... there is less to no vibration with the solid bars and the clips hold tight. The tips of the clips are replaceable which is important if you use this set up with a propane torch. If you use a torch you can purchase a flameproof pad to fit inside the included clamps. I also have a similar set up by GRS (three times the price), and for the price this is just as good. This is the best third hand set up that I've seen and I have a bunch of different kinds.
