Made my worn-out key become a brand new key! The old fob was falling apart and the key was all twisted, so this was a necessity.Transferring over the internals is a breeze, with the exception of the immobilizer chip. Depending on your old fob, removing the immobilizer chip could be easy (like it was for me, just requiring a small screwdriver to pry it out) or it could be more difficult if it’s glued in. My best advice is to take it slow and if you can’t get it to come out, get a professional to help you so you don’t damage the chip.Then take your old key to locksmith or a hardware store like ACE and they will take care of cutting it to match your old key. It feels so much nicer to have a brand new housing and I’m glad it was cheap to do!

Got this item as the the rubber covering the switches on my OEM key was going to pieces. The replacement case is nice & sturdy, appears to be made to OEM specs. I got my local Lady of All Things Hardware to cut the key & it worked fine. Locating the RFID chip still eludes me. Others have mentioned the use of heat guns and eyeglass screwdrivers but I can't even locate it on my 2006 RAV4 key. Great deal to rebuild your broken key!

Simply it works as expected after you transfer the chip. It cost me $5 to cut both keys, so do your math and calculate savings.

I had two of these keys cut for $4 each at Ace Hardware. Locksmith wanted $35 each. Once the keys were cut, assemble all the buttons, put in the transponder from the broken shell, install the chip and I now have a fully functioning key. Everything retrofitted perfectly for my Toyota car. You can keep the old key if it is still good as a spare for opening the lock, in case you lock yourself out.
