I decided to create a rackmount Proxmox server and this motherboard seemed like a decent deal. I used a Ryzen 7 5700G paired with 64GB of PC-3200 DDR4 RAM. Installed Proxmox followed by a Windows Server 2019 Standard VM. I was able to passthrough devices to the VM without issue. It's more than fast enough and beats my old Dell Dual Xeon (E5 v4 Socket 2011) server in terms of performance all the while consuming only a fraction of the power.I recommend it.

The B550 chipset has the perfect support for the Zen 3 architecture. It works flawlessly with my AMD Ryzen 5 5600x and providing full range support.

I am building a mid-range workstation that can handle some light gaming. I got this motherboard because it looks amazing and does not scream gamer. If you are not a fan of RGB, you can manually turn off the RGB lights around the chipset heatsink on the switch that comes with this board. I had this installed on an NZXT H5 flow case and all front panel connectors worked. I have a ryzen 5700g cpu as a backup that works right out of the box without bios update. Also for context, I haven't build pcs in a long while, so some things that are mentioned here may not be new to others.Things I really like:- has an optical audio connection so I can enjoy better audio quality- has built-in wifi (sometimes the non wifi version of this board cost almost the same amount)- no separate back plate makes this installation much simpler and cleaner- large heat sinks- m.2 slot comes with heat sinks so no need to spend more buying them separatelySome Nitpicks- the packaging's lack of seals and protective plastics caught me off guard, I almost thought someone had opened the box, but I think this is normal after watching some unboxing videos- manual that comes in the box has very limited info, you have to get the full manual from the website- if you have 4 ram sticks, it loads into the low 2133mhz rate, so you have to select the xmp profile and restart to get the higher rate advertised on your ramOverall I love the premium built of this board. The am4 platform is old, but if the price is right, I think you can get a lot out of this. I highly recommend!

I bought this excellent motherboard that has all the features and a robust VRM power config for all the most powerful Ryzen CPUS. All the components run cool including the PCH Chipset. Unlike my z590 which can get up to 60c+ but this boards Chipset only gets to 35c. With my Ryzen 5 3600 idles at 33c with a Thermaltake Assassin PSE120 CPU Cooler. The primary NVME has the Lexar NM790 which get reads of 7300mbps and 6500mbps. Everything runs great on this motherboard. The only I don't like about MSI boards is the onboard RGB Mystic Lighting which has a very lame set of RGB lighting effects. ASUS ROG STRIX has the best RGB by far (just my opinion) I highly recommend this motherboard.

I bought this motherboard as either my previous motherboard or power supply were dying (I replaced both to be safe)The bios on this one isn't super straight forward, likely not to the fault of MSI, I just need to learn it as I've never used a MSI motherboard before.Holy storage batman, this thing comes with 2 M.2 SSD slots & 8, yes EIGHT SATA ports, none of which get disabled when using the M.2 slots, only a single PCI-E slot gets disabled if you use the 2nd M.2 slot. That's insane, my old motherboard disabled half of my SATA ports when I only used one M.2 SSD.Strengthened GPU socket & it has troubleshooting lights too. In my opinion, they really thought of everything with this motherboard & it seems to be built to last. The only things that I didn't quite enjoy was the IO shield being a pain to put on, & the RAM only has one tab holding each stick in place, It's secure & I've had no issues but it didn't feel right to me, I'm used to getting two clicks instead of one.Overall, a great no BS motherboard made for use in the 2020's instead of the 2010's. Highly recommend if you can get it at an affordable price.

Let me start this off with the fact that this board does not have an rgb header anywhere. It's very lackluster, but it's also cheap so what can you expect? Vrms look adequate for up to a 5800 processor, although i wouldn't buy it expecting to overclock any ryzen 7 processors. It does have an nvme slot, so I guess there's that. Would be great for an APU build if you're looking for a very basic computer with light gaming capabilities, even if the vega graphics in the 5000 series apus aren't getting driver updates anymore.

Great board for my low cost game build. No need to jump to next generation AM5 and pay the upscale price. Coupled this with my 5700x3d and it is amazing. 2 M.2 slots and 6 SATA ports. Wasn't looking to use the RGB but it ends up looking good ( the fans I bought on sale had RGB so I hooked them up)Some reviews have concerns but it was flawless. The BIOS update with the USB and back button saved my life when I put in an incorrect timing for the memory and the CPU was no longer registered. It did boot into BIOS first time and I did an upgrade through the GUI, for the new CPU. Again flawless!

I have a love/hate relationship with this mobo. Once it’s set up, it works like a dream! It comes with a very basic BIOS which doesn’t allow it to operate much at all. To get it up and running, you need to install the latest version of BIOS from a flash-drive. That means that you have to have access to a working computer that you can use to download the latest BIOS onto a flash-drive before you can upload it onto the mobo. It was a complicated process for this novice, but now that I’ve done it, not so very difficult after all!The next problem was that the mobo won’t access my old HDD’s because it operates UEFI protocol. According to the manual, which I had to download onto my phone (!), the protocol can be switched to accept other versions, but my initial attempts have been unsuccessful. I therefore had to download Windows onto a flash-drive, via another computer, and upload it onto the mobo.Because the mobo is cutting-edge, it has 2 iSSD ports. I had bought a 1TB iSSD as part of the build and the installation was fairly straightforward, but fiddley. And now the ‘love’ bit!!! The build powers up in 15 seconds and powers down in 5 seconds. The in-built WiFi works well, even though one of the antennae is loose - I’d have to take the mobo out of the case to tighten the nut!Although I’ve not given it a stern test, it performs all the ordinary tasks effortlessly and shows every sign that it could allow my R5 CPU to fly!!!One last thing; the BIOS for this board isn’t on the MSI UK list - you have to get it from the MSI US list!!! As I said at the start - a love/hate relationship!!!

In contrast to a terrible experience I had with an Asus board this board was such a charm to work with! Ryzen 7 5th gen processor installed perfectly right out of the box without the need to flush the BIOS. So was the case with my old memory. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. During the last 3 days the build runs cool and stable. One litle quirk to mention: I had first installed my Samsung NVMI into the second M2 slot (the one away from the CPU at the bottom of the board). Then Samsung magician suggested that the drive was not running at optimal speed since it was installed in a 3x M2 slot. Subsequently, I discovered, what seems to be a well known issue with people who happened to buy this board or any of its "PRO" series siblings. Specifically, only one of the two M2 slots (the one close to the CPU) is capable of 4x speed. Since I moved the NVMI drive to the first slot, everything runs as it should.
