Not really much to say. I needed it for an old XP computer for a specific piece of external hardware that isn't Windows 7 compatible. I put this in the computer, booted up and it just worked. No need to install drivers or anything. My external hardware connected right away without any issues, so I am pleased.

Not many devices use Firewire, some that do are DV (Digital Video) cameras, mine is a Sony DCR-HC52. I, like countless others have had trouble with the Window7/32bit OS not recognizing the cameras when connected to the onboard Firewire ports. I changed cables, changed drivers, tried multiple software, nothing worked. This PCI board did the trick, it took a few minutes to install. After a reboot I plugged in my camera to the new firewire port, the video software launched and I was in business. The card uses it's own onboard drivers not the ones in the Win7 OS which is what I was looking for. I have used this card a few times now with no problems and no lost frames.

For anyone working with DAW's that need a firewire card expansion for hardware, I can safely say I've had no problems with this card. After much research, I learned that Texas Instruments chipsets are a must to avoid latency and communication issues. While this card is much more expensive than other options, I feel this card's pricetag is a small investment in exchange for peace of mind. Pop it in, and hit "record"!
