SIIG's DP FireWire 800 PCIe is a superior adapter card designed to add FireWire 800 interface to your computer for connecting multiple high-speed FireWire devices. It features three external FireWire 800 (1394b) ports, delivers data transfer rates up to 800 /s, supports isochronous and asynchronous data transfer modes, features Plug-n-Play connection of peripheral devices and allows you to connect and disconnect devices without turning your system off. Works mostly great. I think firewire is just inherently crap and annoyingly delicate, but not only does this reliably actually work (compared to my old-but-actually-significantly-newer firewire 400 card that mostly works but still crashes occasionally (about once every other month) for my old PreSonus interface), but it's only crashed my computer twice in the two weeks I've had it and both of those were right when I was getting it all set up! I joke, but that's actually an extremely welcome improvement, and, my intuition tells me it'll be actually fully reliable now that I'm not fiddling with hardware stuff, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars.I hate that I had to buy a specific, not-cheap PCIe card that I basically already had just so my UAD satellite wouldn't crash my computer.For reference, when I say crash, I mean BOSD or very hard crash directly and immediately to BIOS.So yeah... Unfortunately, this card is the right one for UAD and unfortunately worth it.

I put this in my music studio PC to serve as the input device for outboard sound recording gear. Not a hitch or any noticeable noise or latency. Does the job.

easy install, didn't need any additional drivers. working great with my quad firewire apollo device.i'm on windows 10, using the legacy firewire driver "texas instruments 1394 OHCI compliant host controller". a bit expensive for older tech but universal audio requires you have this card to run their hardware and i've had it up a few hours now with no issues.it also works great with my other firewire interface, a focusrite pro 40.

Was having issues with a cheaper PCIE card I got, it kept disconnecting my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP. This new one just worked immediately after I installed it. I didn't need to install any drivers or anything, and my interface is staying connected :)

Windows 10 would not boot after installing this card. Had to remove the card to get the computer to reboot. Tried to install again but experienced the same problem, computer would not boot with the card installed in the slot. This may be a good card if you can get it to work but I was not successful in making that happen.
