Stopped working 2nd time I used it. Save your money and buy something higher quality. I am now back to my $20 Radio Shack iron. I bought this for the higher current, but only got one use out of it before it stopped working.

Fits the Social tips, so you can have selection, without the higher price of the Social unit. Fine tip trough fat tip, dial the appropriate temperature. off-switch for safety. Solid stand. Wish I had done this years ago, before wasting money on soldering guns and pen.

Guys for something that when I first pulled it out of the box my thoughts were oh damn I got ripped off. But nope this little machine is AWESOME! It heats up FAST and the temperature control is GREAT. As well as being able to switch out tips is perfect. It fits my hand just right. All in all I have nothing but good things to say about this unit. Good quality, good price, fast delivery, good customer support. Definitely worth the money.

Excelente para reparaciones al detalle. El ajuste de temperatura es muy bueno pero hay que aprender a usarlo.

More than happy with the purchase. After using cheapo $3-5 irons from walmart for ever I finally wanted to upgrade to something more decent and able to change tips without buying a whole new iron. I can't say much for heating accuracy I just leave it between 4-5 and don't have a good way to check but its good enough for my hobby projects. The best and most surprising part is the longevity of the tip it came with so far has outlasted any walmart irons by a long shot and then some. After soldering components on to 3-5 small custom boards (cant say for sure exactly how many) and for small other quick uses the tip other than being slightly discolored (happens to things that get hot... no problemo) is basically the same as I fired it up the first time. Is it because I can set the heat to more where I need it to be then just the screaming hot walmart irons, probably. Just mind boggling to have used even once without the tip slowly breaking down and creating a hot spot that steals all my solder from where I need it. Yesterday I thought I saw a spot forming, nope a couple good wipes on the sponge and finishing the project saw it right again. I don't like Amazon for certain items, the shipping can be a bit much even with primes, not really free shipping, (alot of items have it injected into the overall price) making ordering tips kinda lame. I don't need new tips yet but a pack of 10 for less than $4 on aliexpress with free shipping is too good not to give a try and will report back on how that goes if I can remember to as I don't mind the wait for shipping cause I still don't really need em yet anyway. Not sure if this is a great iron or not, literally haven't tried anything comparable but damn it completely changed soldering for me and honestly, do you really need much more than this? Why spend 3x times or more for better ones? Maybe if you do alot of soldering for work and need something a bit robust or don't want your coworkers seeing you using a cheapo station that all use hakos but for me this is quite the treat and works perfectly.

This is an alright "station". Coming from an Aoyue 936 analog station that died (and I had nothing to repair it with), the base seems a little flimsy. It will work but it doesn't weigh very much so you may have to modify it to your liking. The actual functional unit and temp control seem good though. It's a downgrade in power from the 936 but as for portability I like that the essential parts can be taken off the stand and attached to a custom workbench setup however you like.I will come back to update if it breaks or if I find any reason to be dissatisfied with the soldering ability. I don't really expect that to happen any time soon though.

Had to return the unit back after 6 months even though I used this iron not more than 10 times during that period. It might be my bad luck to receive a bad unit, 5 stars otherwise. I used this iron with leaded solder at the lowest temp possible and got amazing results though.

This soldering station has worked very well for me. I have bought genuine Hakko tips and they all fit completely with no problems. I changed the sponge for a genuine brass wire sponge (dumped the brass colored steel sponge) holder for cleaning the tips. I have made the station much stronger by securing all of the parts together with JB Weld. Using a medium Hakko pointed tip and a Hakko FG 100 Soldering iron temperature measuring unit I have come up with these average tip temperatures. With the dial set on #1 which is "Low" 250 degrees C or 482 degrees F. Dial set on #2 294 degrees C or 561 degrees F. Dial set on #3 331 degrees C or 628 degrees F. Dial set on #4 365 degrees C or 689 degrees F. Now there is a big gap space between #4 and # 5 on the dial face and the solder tip temperature reflects this. Dial set on # 5 415 degrees C or 779 degrees F (this was the biggest change in temperature between dial numbers). Dial set on #6 430 degrees C or 806 degrees F. Dial set on # 7 445 degrees C or 833 degrees F. Dial set on # 8 which is "High" 467 degrees C or 872 degrees F. Like I mentioned these tip temperatures are the result of the average of 5 tip temperatures on each dial setting going from low to high and then back to low. This was giving 6 minutes heating up and 6 minutes cooling down time between each consecutive measurement. I always keep an extra heating element for this station on hand just in case but have had no need to install the element. I am very satisfied with this unit at the price point it has. Keep the solder tip clean and check the tip lock ring once in a while to make sure it is tight (use a pair of pliers for this, the lock ring will be hot !!!). With this in mind the unit should give you good service. Another hint, I use 4 different diameters of solder and all are rosin core (never use acid core solder or acid flux for electronic work) as the diameters are different the melting temperatures are different adjust the soldering station temperature to match the solder. Solders differ in make up I have 63/37, 60/40, and 58/40 with 2% silver- the melting temperatures of the solder are normally printed on the spool or package. Aloha from Maui.

I bought this from Amazon last week, it's already here and right off the bat it feels strong, heats up quickly and does a good job. The tray is metal which is nice, and the unit parts all fit together well making it a snap to use. I can't believe I wasted time with a handheld unit for so long, this is heaven in comparison and the price is unbeatable.

This is the best soldering iron I have ever used. Excellent value for the price and the heat adjustment is a god sent for doing fine work on RC electronics and printed boards. Heats up very fast and the iron is very comfortable to hold. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I had bought a cheap soldering iron from a national retail chain that sells These kind of items. You know the type of iron that just plugs into the wall, and you cannot adjust or regulate the temp. I had gotten one of those and struggled to des older or solder a bead at all. Then I had read that a fellow had the same type of problems, and he thought it was him. Turns out the tool is the culprit. This is a far superior tool than those plug directly soldering irons, and you would do yourself a justice to buy this one as a starter solder station. I don't think I will be buying another one since my soldering is few and far between and this will outlast me in longevity. Do yourself a favor and read before you attempt and get this solder station! Excellent value for the money.
