The truss rod tool that I received was NOT 8mm and 7mm, but 8mm and 6mm. To say the least, this caused some difficulty in adjusting the truss rod.

Out of the box:1. Guitar Truss Rod Hex Wrench (Size 4mm) (Ball end);2. Guitar Truss Rod Hex Wrench (Size 5mm) (Ball end); and,3. Dual End Truss Rod Box Wrench (7mm and 8mm).Note: Allen Wrench and Hex Wrench is the same thing. I will refer to it as Hex Wrench.Truss rod adjustments are made to:1. Counteract the tension of the strings (which can cause the neck to bow or warp);2. Improve the guitar’s action and intonation;3. Improve the overall playability; and4. Ensure that the neck remains flat and straight.I have a Martin D-28 and a DSR2. Their truss rods are set deeper in the neck than most guitars; a regular hex wrench will not reach them. The 5mm in this set is perfect for adjusting the truss rods (which are reached through the sound holes) in my Martins. The ball end of the hex wrenches goes into the truss rod easier than a regular hex wrench, which is harder to line up.All three parts of this set are solid. Some guitars have a nut or slot at the headstock end of the guitars. They are adjusted using a Box Wrench or a Hex Wrench.I have two guitars that have their truss rods adjusted at the headstock:1. Yamaha FG-375S which is adjusted using the 5mm Hex Wrench. I don’t need to use the ball end because it is visible and easy to line up); and,2. Guild F-30 (it is around 45 years old and needs a pick guard). It requires a 7mm Box Wrench to adjust its truss rod. This is a reasonably good set that will allow for truss rod adjustments on all guitars that I can think of.I give 5-Stars to this Guitar Truss Rod Allen Wrench Set (Brand: WEZCHUGHAOL).If I have any problems with this product, I will update this review.

I’ve been doing setups and basic repairs on my guitars for many years. When I have to adjust my truss rods, I normally use a nice little set of Allen wrenches I got at Dollarama a few years ago. They’re a bit short, however, so I was interested to see how this set would perform by comparison. The two hex wrenches have 7 and 12 cm sides, which make it substantially easier to reach recessed truss rods. The ball end is also very nice to have, since it can interlock even when at an angle. I tested both of these on a few of my guitars and basses, and they generally worked well. The 4 mm and 5 mm diameters will fit most truss rods, but the length could be a problem for vintage style instruments that use string trees (see photo).I was pleased to see the socket-ended wrench included in this set because I have a couple of 90’s Ibanez RGs with bullet-style truss rods. I was quite disappointed to find that neither of these sockets will fit them, however. If you’re interested in this set because of this tool, it would be a good idea to check your instrument’s specs before ordering. At $15.99 they’re priced appropriately, but there are a number of competing sets on Amazon that offer much more for just a few extra dollars. I’d recommend shopping around a bit before making a purchase. My rating: 3.75 stars
