Took a chance based on reviews and product worked as I hoped it would. Came in incorrect box and seemed to be a generic firewire PCI card. I installed it and it was recognized by my desktop immediately when I booted up. I had to install a legacy driver for it to work with my Windows 10 OS. So far it has worked without any issues at all.

This was easy to plug into the mobo and let windows find the drivers. Works perfectly. A 10 minute hardware and software install.

This product came with no CD in the box. It says it was supposed to come with the CD. Frustrated.

Used this adapter to convert almost a hundred mini DV tapes to AVIs. The adapter itself was recognized as soon as I booted up the PC and I had no issues capturing video using the adapter with the supplied cable through Vegas Pro 16's built-in DV video capture software.

Installed in 2 different slot, both times appeared to working fine, after rebooted PC finds Canon ZR60 but capture software fail to connect to it.3 different software was tried. Uninstalled driver, rebooted PC for the 100th times, installed hardware again but now Win10 crashes, rebooted multiple times but just crashes, removed this card and uninstalled driver. Wen to local PC STORE, purchased TI TSB43A FireWire card, works fine, all previously not working capture software was able to connect and capture video from Canon ZR60 without any problems or system crash.Returning it to amazon.

This is a Firewire 400 (IEEE 1394a) card for a PCIe x1 slot that provides 2 common 6-contact Firewire 400 ports plus a smaller mini port. I'm running 64-bit Win 10 on a new machine, and its only PCIe x1 slot is occupied, so I put it into an unused PCIe x16 slot, and it works fine. Very little documentation included, but it's not complicated. At first it did not work, and Device Manager indicated a faulty device driver. So I Deleted the driver and device and rebooted, and the system recognized it as a VIA 1394 OHCI compliant Host Controller and installed the Microsoft driver 1394ohci.sys from the system32 folder, so I presume it's designed as a 32-bit device. I'm using PowerDirector video editor software to import from a Sony DV (8mm tape) camera via this card.

I bought this card to connect a Nikon negative scanner to my PC running Windows 10 Home, version 2004. The card was easy to plug into the PC motherboard and secure to the case. I used a known good Firewire cable that came with the scanner, so I can't comment on the short cable included with this card. Like some other recent reviewers, upon restarting the PC I checked Device Manager and noted that it had detected both the IEEE 1394 host controller and the Nikon scanner, so there was no need to install the legacy driver. Unsurprisingly, the scanner software had no problem finding and working with the scanner. In all, it couldn't have been a better experience.

Worked great for a Sony Hi8 camcorder with winDV software. The only annoying thing with this approach is that it breaks the video files into small packets that you have to use video software to stitch back together. However I believe that is a winDV software issue and not an issue with the PCI card
