This thing is awesome for a portable! Works every bit as good or better than plug in types I've owned. The whole design of this product checks all the boxes for perfect light duty hobby work. Common 900m replacement tips (comes with a decent variety), coil style wand dock, on-board brass wool type tip cleaner (not just a crappy sponge), good digital readout, thermocouple type tip temp sensor (reads the temp at the tip instead of just a power knob), decent battery life, auto sleep mode if you stop moving for a couple mins then auto wake on movement, and it comes with a decent size little roll of electronic type Flux core solder to boot! Have you seen how expensive solder has gotten in stores? And by the way, it's compact and runs off of any 20v dewalt battery! WHAT!?!?! Sometimes I really love modern technology. Features like this used to only be available on expensive, large, table top stations. I have those too, and they are nice but just to be able to take this thing anywhere you want and ACTUALLY works almost just like the big one and it's not even half the cost... awesome.Only reason to taking off a star is just that it is made of a relatively cheap feeling plastic and the little rubber like boot on the bottom of the coil keeps falling off. Both not a big in my mind as I am relatively careful with my things. I find no reason to bang things around and don't really save any time by being careless.Anyway, my opinion, if you need, or have any interest in something like this, and are already in the dewalt battery universe, get it! I haven't seen any with better features than this one. I've used others that they sell on amazon that use the t12 style iron, and it works well, but the features on this one blow that one out of the water.

Does what it was supposed to. only used it with the supplied thin solder. It worked well, nice to have a cordless option that uses 20v Dewalt batteries.

This soldering is very compact in size and lightweight design. It's very easy to carry around and perfect for on the go. The heat-up time is pretty quick, and it maintains the temperature throughout use.Very happy with the purchase

This is my second battery-powered soldering iron, and I can say that it is significantly better than my other one and cheaper as well. My other one was actually 3D printed and was selling for like $70. This iron uses plastic injected parts and half the price. I also love that it has a built in tip cleaner. These battery powered irons are convenient if you're like me and do a lot of soldering.

Great quality and value. It’s very light, portable and compact so it can easily be brought to different work areas to solder wires. It took lest than a minute to melt the solder wire from a cold start as shown on the video, it could have melted faster if I set the temperature to max (480C/896F). This will definitely replace my other bulky soldering station. I like that it has the option to plug and use a 18-20VDC power supply. NOTE: this does not include a dewalt battery.

This DeWalt powered soldering iron is working perfectly. It's temp adjustable and it gets up to temp very fast. I really like that I can use DeWalt 20v batteries, that was a BiG selling point for me. Hope it lasts.

This soldering set is such an asset to have on hand. In the past year I've gone through two of the low price solder irons you can pick up at any store, and wanted to upgrade to something that would actually last. This is such a step up in quality, but the price is still super affordable. The most important thing to note is the battery is NOT included. The 20v from my Dewalt drill fits it perfectly, and goodness is there a noticeable difference in quality and performance compared to my previous irons. Can't beat the cordless aspect, either!
