Great product. I got the basic version and it doesn't disappoint. Solid construction and seems like it'll last a long time. Quick heat and comfortable handle.Recently started spending a lot of time getting back into circuit board builds and works great. It only comes with one tip so plan on buying the $18 5 pack of tips too if you need the precision point.Replaced a highly rated Yihua with this and very happy I did. That got the job done but the plastic sleeve had weak threads and the heat didn't always seem to be up to temp.

Did not realise that this item was manufactured for the American market therefore it is no good for the British households. I only realised this when I was putting it together and the plug is totally different to British plugs.I am looking for a refund of this item and hopefully I can find a replacement which is made for British use. ☹️

The unit I received was used, most likely a return due to the poor quality. The connection between the iron and the base is very sloppy. There is a slight rattle inside the iron, and it feels cheap. I am very disappointed and may return it. On the plus side it heats up pretty quick and the tips are inexpensive.

This station is a great unit... It's a Weller, and it's replacing my nearly 20 year old WP35 iron that's finally started struggling to heat up.The iron heats up fast, the tips are quick and easy to swap, if you're looking for a solid variable temp soldering station I definitely recommend it.Now, the reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5... Is because the pictures depict the screen as being backlit, it is not. The screen does not light up, just be aware of that. Although it's not terribly hard to see the display, for the price a backlight is a very small cost to improve the product. You would be able to quickly tell whether the unit is powered on or not from a distance, as there is no power LED on this unit either.Overall a solid iron, but should have a backlit display or power LED.

Super easy to use. Shuts down on user selected time out. Heats super fast. Keeps proper temp. The tip holder is slim and comfortable . The base is heavy and built sturdy.It’s just awesome!!

You get what you pay for, and while there are cheaper soldering irons out there, I have always trusted this brand. It is a sturdy piece of kit. The variable temperature control is so important for small electronics work and the sleep mode is a welcome safety feature. It easily accommodates a variety of tips.

Well I have had many soldering irons, but I think this is a keeper... works well, easy to use, holds temps well (for what I do with it, electronics), and seems sturdy. Whished it would come with tip cleaner (not the foam type) but I find it a joy to use. Heats quickly, turns off automatically. Not sure why, but my tips stay clean on this iron, probably because they are high quality... purchased spare tips but have not used one yet! Would definitely recommend.

I had a Weller when I was in tech school and it lasted about 25 years, when that one packed it in, I got less expensive one because I hardly do any soldering anymore, but that only lasted about 2 years , and that one got very little use. Then got another inexpensive one, I returned it the same day because the handle got too hot and operation was intermittent. SO I bit the bullet and bought another weller, THIS IS A SOLDERING IRON. Heats up fast , I don't fee any heat on my hand, it's very solid, I know it has a real transformer inside because of the weight, not just a switching power supply. Costs double but in the long run you'll save money.

**2nd UPDATE**Weller made good on their promise, and immediately sent me a full kit replacement for my stinky Weller base unit. It was nice of them to send me out a whole new kit, including the handpiece instead of cheaping out and only replacing the smelly base unit.The new replacement works flawlessly, and best of all does NOT STINK!!I'm a little annoyed to have had to have gone through this whole process, one would think that Weller would have reached out to me to inform me of this "known issue" with this product, as I immediately registered the warranty upon receiving the original unit, but, maybe I'm expecting too much, and in the end, I'm Happy with a working soldering iron that I did not have to pay shipping or warranty fees to get a replacement. Now, let's see how long this unit lasts for. The soldering iron that this replaced lasted since 1995!**UPDATE**I contacted Weller directly (Apex) and they immediately replied, and advised me that they are aware of this known issue, and will immediately send me out a replacement unit. Apparently there was an issue with the manufacturer changing the chemicals in the housing back during covid, and they were not advised until people started complaining. Somehow some of these stinky units made it out into the field. If you have a stinky unit, contact Weller for a replacement. I'm super impressed with their professionalism in hand this situation. I'm now awaiting my replacement. 😁Will adjust stars rating accordingly when new unit arrives, and does not smell.This iron smelled like it had a slight burning smell upon delivery, but I figured it was just off gassing as transformers sometimes do smell like that, but since I bought it back in July 2023, the burning smell has progressively gotten worse, to the point where it is stinking up the whole room. I thought my radio gear blew up something inside, and it took me awhile to realize it was this soldering iron. I now have to double bag it in ziplock bags and put it in another room as the smell is so bad. It's past the return window so I'm stick with it. Let's just hope Weller customer support does something to help with this situation, I've reached out, but no answer back yet. It's now December 2023, and this iron has only been used 5 or 6 times for light soldering of a few wires. Weller has truly gone down hill with their product. I should have bought the Hakko like everyone said to. Sad, very very sad.
